Skyline, Supertrees & a light show · 7 must-see spots

The trip

One of the best city skylines we've ever seen.

Singapore is unlike anywhere else — futuristic, spotless, and greener than you'd expect for a city of skyscrapers. We only had a few days here in March, but it was enough to hit all the big photo spots and come away amazed. The skyline is one of the best we've ever seen, the night light show at Gardens by the Bay is unreal, the airport is genuinely a destination in itself, and even the mall is next-level. The parks are stunning too. Here's exactly where to go, and the tickets worth booking ahead. We visited in March 2025.

Marina Bay Sands & the SkyPark

📍 Marina Bay Sands · SkyPark Observation Deck

The three-towered Marina Bay Sands is the icon of Singapore, and getting up high is the move. The SkyPark Observation Deck on the 57th floor gives you the whole bay, the CBD skyline and Gardens by the Bay laid out below — the best panorama in the city. If you're not staying at the hotel, book the observation deck ticket ahead so you can time it for late afternoon into golden hour.

Gardens by the Bay & the Supertrees

📍 Gardens by the Bay · Supertree Grove

The Supertree Grove is pure sci-fi — giant vertical gardens up to 50 metres tall, wrapped in living plants, with a skyway strung between them. It's free to wander the grove in the day, and stunning. To make the most of it, an admission ticket gets you into the conservatories too, or a bundle covers everything in one go. Come back after dark for the light show (more on that below).

The Supertree light show at night

📍 Supertree Grove · Garden Rhapsody (free, nightly)

Come back after sunset and the whole grove comes alive — the Garden Rhapsody light-and-sound show lights the Supertrees in waves of colour, set to music, and it's completely free. It was one of our favourite nights of the trip. For a different angle on the bay's nightly Spectra light show over the water, a starlight dinner cruise pairs the skyline lights with dinner on the water.

The Merlion & Marina Bay waterfront

📍 Merlion Park · Marina Bay promenade

The Merlion — the half-lion, half-fish spouting water into the bay — is Singapore's mascot and a must for the classic photo, with Marina Bay Sands framed right across the water. From here the whole waterfront promenade loops the bay past the Esplanade and the ArtScience Museum. It's the best free walk in the city, especially at dusk when everything lights up.

Cloud Forest & Flower Dome

📍 The conservatories · Gardens by the Bay

The two giant glass domes are worth every minute. The Cloud Forest is built around a towering indoor waterfall wrapped in mist and mountain plants, and the Flower Dome is a cool, sunlit hall of orchids and blooms from around the world. They're a blissful, air-conditioned break from the heat and some of the most photogenic interiors in the city — both are covered by the Gardens admission and bundle tickets above.

Jewel Changi Airport

📍 Jewel · Changi Airport

We'd genuinely tell you to go to the airport early — Jewel Changi is a destination in its own right. At its centre is the Rain Vortex, the world's tallest indoor waterfall, pouring seven storeys down through a glass dome into a lush indoor forest. It's free to walk through, it's stunning, and it's the best airport we've ever set foot in. Give yourself extra time on the way out to actually see it.

The CBD skyline & riverside

📍 Marina Bay waterfront & the CBD

Half the joy of Singapore is just wandering. The Central Business District skyline reflected in the water is one of the best we've ever seen, and the promenade and river walk connect the whole thing on foot. Bougainvillea-lined railings, spotless streets, and skyscrapers everywhere you look — it's endlessly walkable and photogenic, day or night. Bring comfortable shoes and just explore.
